Link Building, Directory Submission and Search engine submission are all very important in Optimizing your website or blog for high search engine ranking. There are many services that exist that offer to perform these tasks in some automated fashion for a small fee. Unfortunately using one of these services can be more harmful than helpful to your SEO efforts.
Most Search Engines, Directories and Legitimate linking opportunities employ CAPTCHA or some other means to verify that the entry is being made by a human and not an automated system. Attempts to circumvent these systems can result in the exclusion of the website that was attempting to be submitted. Although some submission companies claim to "hand submit" your site to the Directories, Search Engines etc. It is difficult to believe that they actually have a human being submitting your site for the price they charge. The person doing the submitting would be making less than $1 per hour.
The other main concern with mass submission is where your site is being submitted to. Google often uses the term "bad neighborhoods" to describe web sites or other web destinations that it considers unethical. If you end up linked to or associated with these "bad neighborhoods" it will do your SEO efforts more harm than good.
The good news is, you can successfully optimize your web site and move up in the search engines, it just takes some work or hiring an SEO expert. SEO does not have to be excessively expensive, but a good rule of thumb is " if it sounds to good to be true, it probably isn't true".
